No one under the age of 13 is supposed to be on Facebook. Yet, according to a recent study, there are 7.5 million users on Facebook under the age of 13. Why?

According to the New York Times: "[W]hile parents want to protect their children’s privacy, they don’t want limitations imposed regarding which sites their kids can access. Rather, they preferred to join up honestly, then have mechanisms provided through which they could control the information gathered about their children as well as what they could see or do."

What about parents in your community? Do they allow their children to be on Facebook? Do they lie, or allow their children to lie, in order to join Facebook? Why or why not? Talk to experts about this phenomenon - should Facebook change the way people sign up in order to allow children to sign up openly?

This story of story begs for a poll, and, of course, you should ask your fans on Facebook: Are your kids on Facebook?
