    On it you'll find many of the same sections you've come to expect from GateHouse News Service, some of last year's most successful online contests, and some new angles on old favorites like Back to School.     Key categories and product highlights:
    We will reprise some of last year's most successful multimedia initiatives:
    • Cutest Babies online contest in January
    • Super Bowl online contest in February
    • March Madness online contest in March
    • Real Estate Outlook in April
    • Salute to Nurses in May
    • Pro Football Challenge online contest starting in August
    • Paint it all Pink breast cancer awareness month sections for October
    • 2014 Auto Preview Guide in October
    • Readers Choice and Cutest Pets online contests at a time of individual sites' choosing
    How were the sections and topics on the schedule chosen?
    The topics of content for the required sections are based on the major ad revenue categories for media in the current economic climate. They also correlate with the major ad revenue categories for our markets and aim to build upon these products' success over the past two years.
    Some of GateHouse's advertising targets include auto, real estate, travel/tourism, health, education, entertainment and B2B.
    What’s new?
    New and modified GHNS products:
    Progress edition templates, available in December 2012, will offer a cover template, Q&A template, business profile form and theme ideas to use if you're creating a Progress section for the first time or to streamline your current offering.
    • A Best of the Web section, available in January, is an annual look at helpful sites for buying technology, making travel plans, online education and more, and templated pages for you to feature businesses and bloggers in your community who are adding to your community's conversation. A profile form will be included.
    • Broadsheet pages will be available for Earth Day rather than a full tab.
    • A gift guide will be available for Mother's Day.
    • Our Back to School package will do more than just offer tips on being prepared for back to school, but will offer templates that will help local newspapers feature new teachers, curriculum, key dates and a school-by-school breakdown of key information for parents to know.
    What has been discontinued?
    We've discontinued the monthly RadarFrog pages based on low use numbers. Also, Outdoor Living will only be offered in the fall, rather than twice yearly, based on low use numbers.
    Page 2 of 2 - Have other products from GateHouse News Service changed?
    We are no longer offering Quark 4 or InDesign CS versions of our tabs and broadsheets, based on low use numbers. Tab and broadsheet products will still be available in Quark 6 and 7, InDesign CS2 and CS3 versions, as well as PDFs if there is not a lot of copy that needs to be changed locally, such as page numbers and folio information. 
    We will continue to offer weekly broadsheets for:
    • NASCAR (Mondays in season)
    • Home (Mondays)
    • Auto (half-page, Mondays)
    • Food (Tuesdays)
    • Pro Football Weekly (Wednesdays in season)
    • Health (Fridays)
    • KidzBuzz/NIE (Fridays during the school year)
    We will still offer free Sudoku puzzles, reduced-rate comics pages from United Media and Tribune Media Services, Morning Minutes, lifestyle columns and features, opinion columns
    and cartoons, editorials, 5 Things to Do This Weekend and other features as we did last year.
