As of last week, a total of 92 GateHouse Media newsrooms have debuted new websites, showing off a redesign that has been months in the making.
Before a new website can go live, each newsroom must attend a series of training sessions that will prepare them to use Saxotech, the new content management system. With almost 200 websites still to launch, Saxotech Online training is charging ahead at full speed.
Sites that have already made the transition to Design House will be asked to attend MediaWare Center online training. Most of your web management can be done through MediaWare Center, and during this session we cover how to use different stories for online and print, create galleries, and learn how to use placement, publication and topic taxonomies. These training sessions are held every Tuesday at 11 am Central. You can find links to these sessions in the calendar below.
Saxotech Online training covers how to post to your website from Edit UI, which is Saxotech’s online interface. Those who attend these sessions (Session 1: Saxotech Online and Session 2: Saxotech Online) will learn the basics of Edit UI and pick up valuable online skills, such as learning to prioritize stories, add related content and use taxonomies. These training sessions are held every Wednesday and Thursday at 11 am Central. You can find links to these sessions in the calendar below.
We have also developed an online handbook that can help guide you through the new system. The handbook is broken into two parts: Saxotech online, which covers Edit UI, Saxotech’s online only interface, and MediaWare Center online training, which covers publishing online from MediaWare Center. You can download a copy Saxotech Online handbook here.
Once you have attended your first training session and have received usernames and passwords for the system, all newsroom employees are invited to attend any Saxotech Online training session to fine-tune your skills, practice, and ask follow-up questions. You can find a full schedule in the widget below.
