GateHouse Media Delaware has named a new executive editor to oversee its editorial content and development.
Carlene Peterson, formerly an assistant managing editor for GateHouse’s Chicago group, will be working to strengthen the group’s already robust journalism in both print and online. Peterson is graduate of GateHouse Media's LEDE program, a development training program for the company's up-and-coming newsroom stars.
A Maryland and Virginia native, with family in and around the Chesapeake Bay area, Peterson said she is excited to return to the East Coast.
“I’m already impressed by the level of professionalism and dedication shown by the staff at GateHouse Media Delaware,” Peterson said. “The news industry is rapidly evolving and this group is poised to shatter expectations. I’m looking forward to working with the folks at the newspaper and in the community.”
Jim O’Rourke, group publisher for GateHouse Media’s Atlantic Region, welcomed Peterson’s arrival.
"We're excited about Carlene assuming the top leadership position in the News Division,” O’Rourke said. "We have an excellent staff in place that will thrive under Carlene's leadership. We're looking forward to continuing
to provide excellent weekly newspapers and websites for our readers and advertisers."
Peterson can be reached at carlene.peterson@doverpost.com.
GateHouse Media Delaware includes the Dover Post, Middletown Transcript, Milford Beacon, Smyrna/Clayton Sun-Times, Sussex Countian, Brandywine Community News, Greenville Community News, Hockessin Community News and Mill Creek Community News.
