GateHouse Media news organizations will be evaluated for the first quarter beginning Monday to determine if they're in the Inner Circle, and for the first time, we'll blog to let you know if you've qualified.

The blog will be up and running Monday afternoon, which is when we'll begin evaluating newspapers and websites on how they've incorporated Web Cube and News Cube strategies into their products. On the Web, we'll look at updates, galleries, First in Print and callouts. In print, we'll also look at First in Print and callouts, plus we'll evaluate for community partner journalism (usually Q&A formats with folks in town) and public service journalism (one of 10 formats that serves your community).

News organizations that execute all aspects of the Web and print strategies will be named to the Inner Circle. During the first quarterly evaluation, eight papers made the Inner Circle. During the next evaluation, 42 papers made it.

What will the blog include? Here's a look:

  • Who's in the Inner Circle: We'll update several times a day to let our editors and reporters know who's made it.
  • Photo galleries: You'll be able to see exactly what's going on during evaluations.
  • Feedback: We'll flag examples of what's working and what's not, with explainers.

You'll find the Inner Circle blog on GHnewsroom.com beginning Monday afternoon.
