Spring temperatures hit record highs in some places and unseasonable lows in others. In some parts of Massachusetts, folks were frolicking in local waters one week and dealing with freezing temps the next.
These extremes are perfectly presented with pictures on the front of The Patriot Ledger. At left, a photo taken last week by staff photographer Gary Higgins shows kids kicking a soccer ball in waters off Weymouth, Mass. At right, a photo taken this week by Greg Derr shows a closesup of icicles.
Both images are the same size to better compare the extremes in weather. Also, they are set against a black background, giving the entire package a bigger impact.
Below the photos and in addition to the cutlines is an explanatory sentence that encapsulates the visual weather story, followed by a content promotion to a related story inside.
