Now that the Fourth of July is over, it is a good time to review your analytics and see what got the most hits –– was it the photo gallery, the event information, the interviews, etc?
Keep track of your best Fourth of July stories in a document labeled "Holidays analytics," and mark columns and rows by years and holidays.
Then go back in your analytics archives and search for the best stories from holidays in the past years.
If you take time to explore analytics from the past, you will better understand the content that is working for your paper and that readers are responding to.
Other holidays to track: Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, Mother's Day, Father's Day.
