Recent upgrades to Zope make it possible for your newsroom to add to and edit the syndicated content packages posted to your carousels from GateHouse News Service. Here's how:

1. Find syndicated content from the news service on your Zope site under Content, then under Manage Subscriptions. A screenshot of this view is at left.

2. Click on the flag icon to the right of the story you want to add your content to or edit. Be sure to click the SAVE button at the bottom left of the screen.

3. Upon clicking the flag and saving, the story moves to the In-progress tab, next to the New tab above your headlines. Click on In-progess, then on the writing hand icon to the right of the story's headline to edit.

4. Edit, save and publish as you normally would. You'll then see a copy of this story in your site's Published Content area.

Editing is recommended for stories you can add local quotes or breakouts to, or ones to which you can add related content from your site, such as local trend pieces, editorials or past stories. For example, you could have taken these steps to add local content -- such as editorials and local reaction -- on the impending government shutdown carousel package GHNS posted to your sites on Thursday.
