Melissa Griffy Seeton has been named editor of The Times-Reporter in New Philadelphia, Ohio. She has served as interim editor since Aug. 20. Griffy Seeton will oversee all news content for the T-R as well as focus on emerging digital strategies.
Griffy Seeton and her team expanded The Times-Reporter’s election coverage, including a recent three-part series on the role health care played in voters’ decisions on Election Day and an analysis of the impact of congressional redistricting on Tuscarawas County.
Griffy Seeton comes to the T-R from The Repository, where she was community interaction editor and a reporter for nearly a decade, winning numerous awards for her investigative and enterprise work.
“Our news team at The Times-Reporter is a strong one,” Griffy Seeton said. “I’m looking forward to building upon the positive momentum we’ve established over the past few months as we focus our energies on enterprise and investigative reporting and making TimesReporter.com and social media priorities in our daily routine.”
Teri Hayt, executive editor of GateHouse Ohio Media, said Griffy Seeton’s strong news background and expertise with social media have helped GateHouse Ohio expand its community coverage.
Griffy Seeton, 34, holds a master’s degree in media management from Kent State University and a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. She lives in North Canton, Ohio, with her husband, Terry, and children Zander and Adalyn Rae.
