The Taunton Daily Gazette has a really nice centerpiece today. The story, by Christopher Nichols, profiles local native and Iraqi veteran Greg Reynolds who lost his left arm in a horrific motorcycle crash after returning home from the Middle East.
He hasn't let his amputation slow him down. He travels the U.S. as a member of the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team.
The story details Reynolds' many athletic accomplishments, as does the presentation of the story.
The three photos at the bottom of the centerpiece, shot by staffer Dave Demelia, illustrate for readers how he can still play softball with only one arm. The photos show, in sequence, how Reynolds 1.) catches the ball, 2.) tosses the ball up and throws off his glove, then 3.) catches the ball in his bare hand before throwing it. The middle photo includes circles around the glove and ball to make sure readers see them.
If you like the photos, check out the gallery which includes images of Reynolds serving in Iraq.
The main photo is submitted, but nonetheless inspiring. In it, the one-armed Reynolds is challenging another with two good arms to a push-up contest. Reynolds, by the way, is undefeated at 13-0 in push-up contests against able-bodied competitors. How great is that?
Elsewhere, the skybox has a nice look to it with the item on the local hospital. The gray shade and b/e photo give it a nice look
Nice page.
