The Daily Messenger story by Julie Sherwood follows up on a the local United Way survey that was conducted last year. Completed by parents and kids alike, the results showed that more programs were needed to offer local youths healthy activities, not monetary handouts.

The design puts Sherwood's story in an alternative format — you know how much we love those, right?

In Sherwood's introduction, she mentions the survey results and sets up the rest of the package. The text below is organized nicely, labeling each part of the story as The issue, The background, The facility and What's next. Also included is a nice If you go box and a numbers package.

The color used in the background is super nice and pulls the package together. The photo by staffer Seth Binnix tops off the package.

The headline also is nicely presented in white against a complementary color picked up from the United Way logo below.

Well done!
