North of Boston, a group of GateHouse newspapers in Mass., has been featured in the 2011 APME Great Ideas book in the Alternative Story Formats category for a Memorial Day reader callout project.
The newspaper asked readers to send in pictures and stories of loved ones who have served in the military for Memorial Day. The response they received was overwhelming, and they were able to run the photos and stories as a centerpiece, called “Saluting their sacrifice,” and fill some inside pages with the overflow.
