We've spent a lot of time over the last few months talking about avenues you can take to get readers sharing their photos and stories.

The GateHouse News & Interactive Online Handbook recommends 18 times a year when you should seek reader stories and photos.

Here's one that's not in there but is a real goodie.

The State Journal-Register is asking readers to send in their best nature photos. Here's the callout:

Do you have a good photo of a beautiful sunrise, a cute gaggle of ducks walking down your street or a gorgeous flower garden in your back yard? This is the place to upload your photos reflecting nature's beauty. Click the "Submit your own photo" link below to get started.

The newspaper has received nearly 180 nature photos.

We're learning quickly that our readers are looking to participate with our web sites, that they are not just coming here to digest the news of the day, but they want to share their life moments with us, even if that moment is a pretty photo of some sunflowers. We need to do all we can to extend that opportunity to them.
