It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and GateHouse News Service has two callouts you can use to get readers' photos of local lights displays and kids' letters to Santa.
Ways to maximize these callouts' potential:
-- Compile reader lights photos into a map in print and online. Readers will appreciate its usefulness for their family car rides.
-- Make the lights photo callout a contest for the biggest and brightest display in town. Work with a local decor store or a company that hangs lights for residences and businesses to get a prize. You can vote on the best display as a staff, or put it to an online and/or print reader vote.
-- Ask adult readers what would be on their Christmas wish list to Santa. World peace? More jobs? Just a two- or three-word response will do, and it would make for a nice video/online and print feature.
