In an effort to offer newspaper editors more information about their online registered users, the GateHouse News & Interactive Division offers the opportunity for newspapers to gather more details about each user.
There are three groups that newspapers can choose to opt into, which in some instances would keep registration as it is today and in others, would increase the required information from users.
Unless newspapers request the ability, users will be able to comment once they have newly registered or updated their profile information.
Here are the three groups that newspapers can place users into:
Group 1: Requires first name, last name and e-mail address.
Group 2: Requires first name, last name, e-mail address, phone number and address. This is the
recommended group.
Group 3: Requires first name, last name, e-mail address, phone number, address (including city),
age and sex.
