The fall colors are out, and GateHouse News Service has a callout ready-made for you to use in print and online to ask readers for photos of autumn foliage.

Here are some ways to maximize this callout's potential:

-- Run the callout with a map of local spots that are great for leaf-peeping. Include parks, scenic drive routes, rec paths, even golf courses.

-- If the leaves are all on the ground in your area, request photos of kids playing in the foliage. There's nothing like jumping into a big ol' pile of leaves, is there?

-- Include tips from a staff photographer on getting a great nature shot. Don't forget tips on lighting and flash use, and on photographing people as well as animals.

Do you have other ideas? Let me know, and I may include them in a future GHNewsroom post.
