GateHouse Media Delaware has promoted Jesse Chadderdon to executive editor, overseeing the company’s six newspapers and corresponding websites.
Chadderdon, a life-long Delaware resident, was previously the group’s city editor. Publisher Mike Szczechura said he’s excited to work with Chadderdon in his new role.
“In the four months that I’ve worked with Jesse, it has become evident to me that he is committed to quality community journalism,” Szczechura said. “Jesse understands that our publications and their companion web sites deliver audiences in New Castle, Kent and Sussex Counties that seek hyper-local content.”
Prior to his position as city editor, Chadderdon served as the editor for Hockessin’s CommunityPub, where he started as a reporter in 2003.
“I’m enthusiastic about my new role at GateHouse Delaware,” Chadderdon said. “I’m confident that with the dynamic news team here, we will continue to serve the interests of our core communities in providing top-notch local coverage both in print and online.”
David Arkin, vice president of Content & Audience with GateHouse Media, said Chadderdon will be a great leader and innovator.
"Jesse has done a terrific job helping drive quality content in both print and online for our newspapers in Delaware,” Arkin said. “Our reporters in Delaware understand our audiences' needs and are meeting those needs with content on many different platform and Jesse has played a huge role in helping us do that.”
Carlene Peterson, who previously served as executive editor, was promoted to a position with GateHouse Media corporate, based in Downers Grove, lll.
"We're extremely happy for Carlene, who is being promoted into a key corporate position,” Arkin said. “Many of the great things she accomplished in Dover will now be taken to dozens and dozens of newspapers in the GateHouse family."
