How newspapers use Local Loop and what it means for Inner Circle will change a bit in 2012. Here are five things to know:
| 1 |
Online callouts from GHNS GateHouse News Service will syndicate monthly callouts to your website beginning Jan. 2. This means in 2012 you will not need to place a callout online, though you could do callouts in addition to the monthly news service callouts. Newspapers that are currently on Local Loop will be able to opt out of this service by emailing lglowinski@corp.gatehousemedia.com. GHNS callouts will be syndicated to four sections on Local Loop: Holidays, Outdoors & Nature, Pets & Animals, and Sports & Recreation, as well as your carousel and your Local Loop homepage. On Jan. 2 we will publish four callouts to make sure all categories are populated at launch: New Year’s photos, pet photos, nature photos and winter sports photos. Finally, News & Interactive will add homepage navigation to Local Loop on all sites, and user-submitted photos will be featured on your homepage near your photo galleries. Full local control Readers will be able to upload their photos to your site, and control over approving or rejecting the photos will still be done locally. Instructions on how you will be able to do that can be found here. |
| 4 |
Callouts in print Newspapers will still be expected to publish a print callout each time you publish to meet Inner Circle expectations. This adjustment will go into place on Jan. 1, 2012. |
