Yahoo has been in the news lately after it was revealed that CEO Scott Thompson included a computer science degree on his resume that he never earned. Then, after he resigned from the role of CEO (without a severance package), Thompson revealed he has thyroid cancer. According to DailyMail.co.uk, he walks away with $7.5 million.

So, what does the AP Stylebook say about Yahoo? Here's the entry:

"A trademark for an online computer service. Headquarters of Yahoo Inc. is in Sunnyvale, Calif. Do not use the exclamation point in the formal corporate name."

What that last part means is, in a formal story about the corporation of Yahoo, no exclamation point. But telling someone to search Yahoo! for the answer, exclamation point!

Now, J.P. Morgan has ALSO been in the news recently for an unrelated scandal of its own: The bank lost $2 billion in risky trading practices that, according to CEO Jamie Dimon, "should never have happened," according to SunTimes.com. Furthermore, not only did Dimon manage to maintain his dual positions as both CEO and chairman of the company, he also was approved of a $23 million pay package.

So, what does the AP Stylebook say about J.P. Morgan? Here's the entry:

"JPMorgan Chase & Co. -- Formed from the 2000 merger of J.P. Morgan & Co. with Chase Manhattan Corp. and the 2004 merger with Bank One Corp. Acquired Bear Stearns Cos. and Washington Mutual Inc. in 2008. Headquarters in New York."
