Study says eating too much red meat is bad for your health.

Eating red meat significantly increases the risk of premature death from heart disease, diabetes and cancer, US scientists claim.

Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) studied the diets of more than 121,000 people for up to 28 years and found the deaths of 23,926 participants were linked to the regular consumption of red meat - particularly processed red meat.

Ways to localize:

  • Talk to local restaurants, especially those that specialize in steaks and other red meats. See if people are eating more, less or the same amount of red meat as they used to. How do restaurant owners feel about this?
  • Local doctors could talk about the benefits of a healthy diet, and how much red meat is too much.
  • Offer some recepies with red meat and other meats like chicken to your readers. Show how to get a healthy balance.
  • Talk with some people who love to grill and ask if this will change the choice of meat they use.
