As you may have seen, video is a big new initiative for GateHouse newsrooms for the rest of this year and into 2012.

I came to love video the more I learned about it, because it's just another way to tell a story. And, video editors need the same analytical content skills as do copy editors.

Here's a great example of what I mean: editing changes context. Video editors have to be sooo careful to check how they edit a quote, how they transition between shots and how they use techniques like slow-motion, to name a few issues.

Training on all this will be coming your way, but it's good to start thinking about now.
