The Saugerties (N.Y.) Post Star relaunched last week with a new design and new content. We asked editor Donna Gomez about the process and the reaction.

Why did you decide to redesign your newspaper?

We all felt it was time for a fresh, new look.

What can you tell us about your community?

Saugerties is celebrating its Bicentennial this year and there are many wonderful events planned. We are also the home of Woodstock '94, The Garlic Festival, The Mum Festival and HITS.

What changes did you make as part of your redesign?

Besides the great new look from Gatehouse designers, we are incorporating many Community Journalism pieces and public service journalism pieces.

How have readers reacted to the redesign?

We have only heard good things.  The community seems to love the new look.

What advice do you have for papers considering a redesign?

They should  let go of any fears they may have and just jump in full force!
