Here's another big inside page presentation showing contestants in a local pageant that recently ran inside the Norwich Bulletin.

The content was generated by each contestant, and the photos were provided by pageant officials. Note how the head size is consistent throughout this page. The photographer was kind enough to shoot each mug against the same background, allowing for a cohesive look to the page.

Here's what John Meo, NB's design editor, had to say about the content and design of this page:

The mugs and bios were provided by the competition committee, which were collected by a reporter. We toned the photos and edited the copy. I believe they were given a worksheet to fill out — parents, sibling, interests — that sort of thing.

For packaging, we ran a story at the bottom of A1 on the Northeast edition with a refer to the photo package (we cleared the page so we could run it in color). The idea was to give everyone equal space, equal treatment. With the if-you-go box, we wanted that page to stand on its own. Of course, the odd number of photos gave us that space at the bottom right, but 23 allowed us to go six across and four deep, giving each girl a good-size photo.

This is a page we ran in Wednesday's paper featuring contestants for a local pageant. Took me about 20 minutes to edit bios and order/place the photos.

Great job, John!
