Nice front page by the folks at The Repository includes this bold centerpiece. The story by staff writer Lisa Reicosky focuses on the lifelong consequences of cyberbulling.

Typography takes center stage here, using a 3-deck headline with different point sizes. The size of the words mimic the emphasis given to the words when spoken out loud. This is great because the visual matches how a reader would speak those words, driving home the point of the story.

Using reverse text against a black background is bold, but a risky move. I can see the type clear as a bell on the pdf I'm viewing, but newsprint can make the clearerst of intentions look like a muddled mess. Hopefully, the print product looks as good as what I see on my screen. To be sure the type is legible, increase the point size of reversed type, as well as the leading, to ensure readers can read the story.

The stock photo at the bottom is a fine way to illustrate this story. The emoticon reflects the what victims of cyberbullying feel and is recognizeable imagery to anyone online.

Nice page!
