The Rockford Register Star had some fun with its centerpiece story today, advancing the On The Waterfront festival set for the Labor Day weekend.

What's nice about this package:

• Staff photographer Scott Morgan gets this artistic angle of a festival worker counting some 1,800 plastic chairs .

• The headline package includes three layers of information, giving this story added prominence.

• What could have been boring text boxes of information was turned into a series of colorful boxes containing a great deal of inforation and content promotions. Small visuals offer context.

• The breakout/promo for rrstar.com tells readers to check the site for the latest articles and photos from the festival, as well as asks readers to submit their own photos to the Star.
