Suburban Life Publications, a division of GateHouse Media in the western Chicago suburbs, is looking to build our ranks of freelance reporters.

We're also looking for a good group of summer interns.

Our unique community journalism makes a difference in people's lives and makes our towns better places to live. We are committed to telling stories in nontraditional ways, and we place a heavy emphasis on alternative story formats. Our reporters also pursue opportunities for multimedia storytelling.

WHO WE ARE: Suburban Life Publications, based in Downers Grove, Ill., publishes 22 nondaily newspapers as well as 68 community and niche websites.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Freelance applicants should have a degree in journalism or journalism experience in a professional setting. Interns should be pursuing or considering a degree in journalism.

HOW TO APPLY: Email applications only. No phone calls. Chicago-area applicants only. Send a resume, no more than five work samples or a link to your portfolio, and a short letter of introduction.
