GateHouse Media Delaware is seeking a news editor with demonstrated skills in both digital and print media. The editor will lead the newsroom at GateHouse Media Delaware’s flagship publication, the Dover Post.

Our goal is to provide unique, quality local journalism. We practice non-linear storytelling, and are committed to evolving our presence on the Web.

Editor’s responsibilities will include:
• Aid reporters in developing innovative storytelling methods and practices both in print and online
• Coordinate between departments to produce attractive, organized print products including special sections
• Enforce deadlines both for print and online

The editor needs to:
• Champion our web-first reporting strategy
• Develop in-depth reporting packages with multiple print and online layers
• Be a content editor, as well as a copy editor
• Promote change and growth within the newsroom
• Have proven communication skills, for colleagues and external customer service.
• Monitor our competition and ensure we’re leading the news, not following it
• Find creative alternatives for nonlinear storytelling
• Act as a mentor and coach for a staff with diverse experience

About our company:
GateHouse Media Delaware, based in Dover, De., publishes the Dover Post, Middletown Transcript, Milford Beacon, Smyrna/Clayton Sun-Times, Sussex Countian, Hockessin/Greenville Community News and Brandywine Community News. Total print circulation is about 105,000.

To qualify:
We prefer local candidates with knowledge of Dover and the surrounding area. Applicants should have at least two years of professional newsroom experience, and prior leadership experience is strongly preferred.
