I was poking around the Internet looking for things about "SEO for newspapers."
Here's a really interesting article, albeit semi-outdated, by Matt McGee for searchengineland.com. But it's a concept worth discussing: Is it ethical/ wise for newspapers to offer marketing services.

After all:
- They have access to writers, copy editors and printers
- Many have a trained SEO staff
- Newspaper companies usually have a talented group of developers
- They have a dedicated sales team
- They have name recognition
The article cites Gannett Newspapers, in 2010, opened GannettLocal, "a small business marketing division in Phoenix."
They offer the following products/ services: search engine marketing, email, digital display, website and geo-targeted print/flyers. They also promise higher rankings in the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing), an entry on Google Maps and sends you advertisement opportunities for Gannett newspapers.
According to the article, McClatchy Newspapers followed a similar suit, partnering with WebVisible to offer online marketing services.
It's really interesting to think about if newspaper companies have a place in the marketing world - is that a violation of ethics? Well, you do what you need to do to survive, right?
Are there any other services you can think of that newspaper companies can sell?
