The Holland Sentinel in the Android Market.

GateHouse mobile traffic continues its steady climb, increasing 6 percent month over month and more than 310 percent year over year in November.

This climb should continue as we expand our mobile presence, with the launch of iPhone, Blackberry and Android applications for our Wicked Local network.

A few mobile highlights from November:

  • Mobile traffic in November grew 6.1 percent over October and is up 311 percent year over year.
  • Traffic on our Spreed applications at 10 top sites increased more than 17 month over month in November, continuing steady monthly gains as promotion and downloads of the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry apps continues.
  • The first full month of Canton iPad data is also encouraging. We should have some data to share in the next mobile report showing some trends.
  • Apps traffic now accounts for about 24 percent of our overall monthly mobile traffic. This is a slight increase over October. The rest is via mobile browser.
  • On our mobile Web browser, Android continue to outpace Apple iOS users: Android: 44.0%; iOS: 41.4%. BlackBerry continues to fade, from 8.8% in October to 8.3% in November. iOS picked up the difference as Android remained steady.
