January got the new year off to a strong start for GateHouse Media's mobile efforts, with big increases year over year and month over month for our mobile websites and applications.
Here are a few highlights from our mobile browser platform:
• Page views on a mobile browser for our top 25 sites increased 84.1 percent year over year.
• Monthly uniques for the top 25 browser sites increased 107.3 percent.
• December 2011 to January 2012, mobile browser views increased 8.6 percent.
• December 2011 to January 2012, monthly mobile browser uniques increased 5.8 percent.
• 106 new sites - all sites that did not previously have a mobile platform - are ramping up now, meaning every GateHouse site now has a mobile solution for readers.
Here are a few highlights from our mobile applications (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and, for Canton, iPad), since we launched on 11 of our top sites by September:
• Since September, we have seen a 168.4 percent increase in page views.
• Since September, we have seen a 91.5 percent increase in monthly unique users.
• December 2011 to January 2012, we have seen a 29.8 percent increase in page views.
• December 2011 to January 2012, we have seen a 12.1 percent increase in monthly unique users.
