The Repository did a heckuva job localizing the events surring the death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin by looking at the state of Ohio's self-defense laws. Staff writer Robert Wang's story is nicely illustrated by the hands (and eyes) of staff designer Robert McCune.
The silhouette and target evoke something you might see at a shooting range. Particularly grabbing is head, eyes and gun pointed directly at the reader. How can you not read that story?
The dark red letters are a little hard to read against the dark background. The white stroke or frame around the letters does help.
The abundant white space puts this package in a spotlight.
