Sometimes keeping it simple works best, as it does with today's front page of The Holland Sentinel.
This page is clean and symetrical with three stories anchored around an informative centerpiece item written by Lisa Ermak. Read her story here.
A faded image of a beach dune serves as the perfect backdrop for their package on Lyme disease. The checklist on ways to protect yourself against the disease flows effortlessly around the "where's Waldo-ish" graphic. The map clearly shows the areas in Michigan that pose the greatest risk while the image of a tick digging in for a warm meal is all you need to know, and don't want to experience, about the danger. A bulleted list on "what to do if" sits perfectly along this secondary image.
I would have liked to have seen a weightier headline for this piece. Moreover, none of the photos or illustrations are credited... which is a no-no.
Over all this is a strong, valuable and informative package. Good job, Holland.
