Poynter's head of leadership and management Jill Geisler will offer her our new regional editors training this week at GateHouse Media's News & Interactive Division headquarters in Downers Grove, Ill.
GateHouse's regional editors, who were announced last month, not only lead their own newsrooms but also offer support to other GateHouse editors in their regions. They are working on sharing resources, leading projects and helping our newsrooms implement corporate iinitiatives, such as the Inner Circle program.
As part of GateHouse's commitment to training, and specifically leadership training, we're so pleased we have Jill Geisler joining us this week. Her new book, "Work Happy: What Great Bosses Know," comes out in June, and she'll share "Ten Things Great Bosses Know" with our regional editors during one of the sessions. She'll also discuss strategies for offering effective feedback, and she'll lead a session on difficult conversations, which she says is a crowd favorite.
Since GateHouse was formed, the News & Interactive Division has offered some form of leadership training as a part of our company's commitment to developing talented leaders. The past couple of years, the program formalized into our LEDE program. This year, we wanted our new regional editors to have the benefit of that leadership training, and approached Jill about leading sessions in the spring and fall that are specifically geared to the leadership challenges facing this group this year.
Training really is an investment in our newsrooms, and we're so happy Jill is joining us on our leadership adventure this year.
