The deadline for the Best of GateHouse 2010 contest is March 1. Here's a FAQ to guide you through the process.

What is the Best of GateHouse contest?

Our annual contest recognizes the best work of GateHouse Media's newspapers and websites. Judges from top journalism schools, Newseum and nationally known journalism trainers have been among those who have judged the contest. Oh, and did we mention cash awards for individual winners? GateHouse News & Interactive Division is proud to recognize the quality work of our newspapers in our fifth annual contest.

My newspaper is small. How can we compete against larger GateHouse papers?

The contest has different categories based on your circulation.

Are there any new categories this year?

Yes, we have a new videography category that recognizes your outstanding work in video. Similar to the photography category, three submissions from one person comprise one entry. Multiple videos on a single topic comprise one-third of an entry. This new videography category differs from our multimedia category because multimedia packages are broader and may include blogs, databases, content that links to relevant documents or websites, photo galleries, polls, as well as video that is part of a bigger online project.

What else is new this year?

We have a very important change this year: online entries. Instead of sending tear sheets, this year we've gone to online submissions. Find Best of GateHouse online forms and more detail here. You'll upload PDFs of your pages in each category. You still need to send the Newspaper of the Year entry by mail, so don't delay! You must enter the Newspaper of the Year category to be considered for any individual categories.

What if I don't have PDFs?
