GateHouse Media newsrooms are being evaluated today to see if they are meeting GateHouse goals for their newspapers and websites. We're looking for online updates, multimedia elements, promotions of print and online, as well as reader involvement in the newspaper and a specific type of alternative story format.

Newsrooms succeeding in all elements make the Inner Circle.

This year, GateHouse changed the expectations for Inner Circle, and this is the first quarter that is being evaluated. The new expectations put a greater emphasis on online elements, with new categories of community blogs, video and Facebook.

The following are Inner Circle categories:

Online

  • Website updates
  • Photo galleries
  • Facebook
  • Video
  • Print promotion on the website
  • Community blogs

In Print

  • Print and online promotion in print
  • Reader involvement
  • Community Partner or Public Service Journalism alternative story format

We'll post a list at the end of each day of the GateHouse newsrooms that make Inner Circle. You can also check out our Inner Circle Twitter account, where we'll post each newsroom as it is certified. You can find us at @GHInnerCircle
