Gates-Chili Post June 2012
This is one of the first Post weeklies in N.Y. produced by the Design House (Gates-Chili).

Our second week of newspaper production in the Design Houses is almost complete.

The Hamilton/Wenham (Mass.) Chronicle was produced by the Design House in Framingham.

This week, Rockford launched Canandaigua’s Daily Messenger and its Post weeklies in New York, and Framingham added seven weeklies in New England: Amesbury Journal, Hamilton/Wenham Chronicle, Cape Ann Beacon, North Andover, North Shore Sunday, Salem Gazette and Stoneham Sun.

The Stoneham (Mass.) Sun, done by the Framingham Design House.

In total, we have taken on 41 titles since the beginning of June. That number will continue to grow to close to 280 by the end of the year.

Next week we launch our first set of newspapers that do not have automated ad layout systems. In the Design Houses, we are centralizing the task of creating pages in the MediaWare Center, drawing/labeling boxes and placing ads. Newspapers that currently do manual ad layout will share their dummies and ads via FTP to make this happen.

Of course, work to prepare for future launches continues: regional training, Saxotech webinars, equipment prep and so on. We’re making adjustments in these areas as needed based on what we’ve learned from our first launches.

On the construction front: The dust is settling (literally) as major work has wrapped up. Now is the time for cleanup, detailing and followup on nonurgent issues.

The Daily Messenger in Canandaigua, N.Y., launched in the Rockford Design House.
