Design Houses in Rockford and Framingham, fresh off last week's Saxotech training, have gotten great practice this week when they built test newspapers in the new system.
Recent issues from Rockford and three publications from the northwest Boston group (Woburn, Chelmsford and Harvard) were chosen to test advertising, editorial and production processes.
Practice and training continue today and through the weekend leading up to next week's launches.
Going hand-in-hand with last-minute news preparation is the wrap-up of major remodeling work for both the metro and community desks' rooms.
And Saxotech and regional training continues for newsrooms launching next month.
Framingham:
The first staff members moved into the Design House on Monday and are settling into their new cubes. Director Conor Plunkett and Manager Ray Johnson are dusting off their new offices as well.
Rockford:
Carpeting, lighting and paint work wraps up (in case you missed our videos last week). The first 22 cubicles are getting set up with cables, phones and computers, and frames for more workstations are going up every day.
We're looking ahead to August and September on the hiring front.
