With a plethora of farms covering their readership area, the folks at the Chillicothe (Mo.) Constitution-Tribune decided to run a farm-friendly callout.
WHAT THEY DID:Lots of new life is springing up, so the Constitution-Tribune ran a callout asking for local farmers to submit photos of their “farm babies.” The response was good, and lead to some great user-submitted art for the cover and an inside page.
THE TAKEAWAY: Photos of cute animals usually play pretty well with readers. Using the callouts from GateHouse’s News Service is great, but often, local callouts will have more appeal with readers. Promoting the submitted photos by displaying them in prominent places in print and online should help spur readers into submitting to future callouts.
