Promoting your community bloggers pays off.

We told you promoting your community bloggers would pay off.

WHAT THEY DID: After seeing some less-than inspiring page veiws for her community bloggers, GateHouse Media New England Managing Editor Alice Coyle was determined to do everthing she could to boost traffic to her community blogs. In her words, "Better blog teases are making a difference in  building readership. Rather than a single story telling readers to  check out all of our community blogs, we're highlighting each one individually  as new posts come in.  It's more time consuming, yes, but by excerpting the most recent blog entry from our community bloggers and posting it as a  story in the feature carousel, news now, lifestyle and opinions on the  homepage, we are better promoting our blogs and bloggers and getting them some  of the 'love' they're looking for. Since starting this I've seen  several of our community blogs among the most popular stories section on the  homepage - that must mean better traffic stats!"

Coyle also posts blog updates to her papers' Facebook pages.

THE TAKEAWAY: No one likes to talk to an empty room, and that's how your community bloggers can feel if their page views are low. Check their stats in Google Analytics and make sure you are doing everything you can to promote their blog. It can mkae a big difference.
