Andy Levin, the editor of the Arlington (Mass.) Advocate, does a weekly weekend update video. And he does a good job.
WHAT HE DID: He sits at his desk and gives a quick round-up of upcoming weekend events in his town, touching on arts, community events and sports. He also includes a weekend weather update for good measure. Check out all the stuff he's doing right: He's firmly in the right third of the screen. He has notes he's reading from, but he's doing it in a relaxed, natural manner. And he paid attention to his background - note the screen shots of Wicked Local on the computer screens behind him, and the newspaper sign on the wall.
THE TAKEAWAY: Keeping up with the weekly video requirements doesn't have to be hard - in fact, it can be fun. Levin reports the newsrooms have a good time with this.
