We know fan engagement on Facebook drives traffic to our websites. Playing nice on Facebook can drive engagement.

WHAT THEY DID: HNNow, the Facebook handle for the Herald News in Fall River, Mass., shared the status of a local firefighters' wives group that was seeking clothing donations for families displaced in a huge fire over the weekend. In just one hour, the post was shared twice - meaning HNNow was seen in those fans' news feed by their friends - garnered three comments and two likes. Plus, HNNow's own comment gained a like.

THE TAKEAWAY: Facebook is all about sharing - photos, videos, links. Share other trusted content on Facebook when appropriate, and you'll see fans react.
