Story ideas for Halloween:

-- Spending: Post a quick online poll or do a voices on the street feature on what people plan to spend for Halloween. Are your community's parents seeing, as this columnist is, an increase in parties that kids need multiple costumes for? More expensive costumes? The want for Halloween-themed toys?

-- Technology: Round up some apps that can help make Halloween safer (like GPS and flashlight apps) and more fun.

-- Multimedia: It's a great holiday for photos and video. Ask readers to send their costume photos, pictures of their Halloween-decorated houses, or shots of group outings like days at the pumpkin patch or nights trolling haunted houses. What events are coming up that could be great for video, like town or school costume parades, tours of haunted houses, fall festivals or pumpkin judging or decorating events. Another photo gallery/slideshow idea is the best and worst candies for kids' teeth.
