Journal Star (Peoria, Ill.) Sports Editor Kirk Wessler placed fourth in the annual Associated Press Sports Editors Association contest. The Journal Star competes in the 30,000-75,000 circulation division. Wessler was the only GateHouse Media columnist to be recognized. This news comes after the Journal Star was also recognized with a Top 10 award for sports special sections (actual places are not announced) for our Hoops! section and an Honorable Mention in the Daily Section category. This is the best overall showing by the Journal Star in the national AP contest.
