The Ardmoreite had a strong showing in the AP One contest for the medium sized papers division as several staff members were rewarded with high honors.
Carrie Bailey received first place in graphics and illustrations and Lifestyles Editor Kevin Kerr placed first in non-front page layout. Staff writer Michael Pineda took first place in features.
Sports Editor Erik Horne won multiple awards in three categories. He received second in sports columns and also took second and third in both sports features and spot sports reporting.
News Editor Marsha Miller received second in investigative reporting and took third with former staff writer Steve Biehn in public service reporting. Kerr finished second in reviews.
Publisher Kim Benedict was third in editorials and staff photographer Don Alquist finished third in general news photo.
“I’m pleased to congratulate the members of our newsroom staff who were honored with a number of AP One awards,” Benedict said. “The Ardmoreite newsroom focuses on doing quality local journalism in multi-media formats that are relevant to our readers and our community. As a result of that dedication to quality, I’m always appreciative when peers in our industry recognize our commitment. Even more important is the recognition from our audience through their continued support of our products and services. We have a talented staff of journalists that work hard to produce stories, photos, videos, web pages and print page designs that appeal to our readers. We’re committed to being the information source in print, digital or mobile delivery venues for southern Oklahomans.”
