Messenger Post Media reporter Amanda Seef has been selected to attend The Reporters Institute, sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists.
The three-day conference will be held at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla. in July.
The conference aims to bring together top young journalists and journalism leaders to encourage interaction, expression and collaboration.
SPJ said it created the conference to find young journalists committed to the profession who have the potential to be 'visionaries' for the industry. The goal is to keep the journalists in the newsroom, and in the profession, SPJ said.
Topics will include creating document-driven newsrooms, ethics, how to find great stories, multimedia, multi-dimensional stories and the future of print newsrooms.
Seef is a reporter for two weekly papers in the Rochester, N.Y. area. Messenger Post Media covers the three-county area surrounding Rochester, NY with 10 weekly newspapers, one daily newspaper and hyper-local websites.
