Lesley Valadez, former managing editor of the Stuttgart Daily Leader in
Arkansas, has recently joined Suburban Life Publications near Chicago as
assistant managing editor for news. She was a member of the Gatehouse News
& Interactive's inaugural LEDE class last year.
Lesley's accomplishments in Stuttgart included her paper being among the
first in GateHouse to be certified under the Inner Circle program. In her
new role, Lesley is managing news coverage for seven weekly papers and
their companion websites as well as coordinating Suburban Life's regional
projects.
Meanwhile, another LEDE graduate has also taken on larger responsibilities
with the suburban Chicago group. Jonathan Schuler was recently promoted to
managing editor. He had been assistant managing editor for newsroom
development. His new role initially involves implementing expanded WebCube
and NewsCube strategies for 2011 at Suburban Life.
A third LEDE classmate, Carlene Peterson, recently left Suburban Life to
join GateHouse Media Delaware, where she is executive editor of that
weekly group.
