What a nice newspaper skybox looks like

With the right photo,  crop, headline and text, a skybox content promotion can direct readers deep inside the paper. Case in point: The (Fall River, Mass.) Herald News.

Here a story about spring break gets great play with this treatment. Note how the content of the photo works perfectly with the shape of the skybox. The clutter-free photo also provides a clean backdrop for the large headline. And you gotta love that quick and tight text.

 

 

 The basketball skybox item, though well-executed with a cutout, doesn't compete with or take away from the spring break promo.

Well done!
