GateHouse Media Online Handbook released
The GateHouse Media News & Interactive Division – formerly the News Division – is releasing the GateHouse Media Online Handbook.
This guide is loaded with advice and instructions on how to operate your local newspaper’s Web site. More specifically, the Online Handbook includes answers and recommendations on:
- Who to contact at the News & Interactive Division for online questions and needs.
- What content goes in print, and what content goes online.
- Helpful how-to tips for video, photo galleries, polls and more.
Click here to download the guide.
Most importantly, the Online Handbook details the new GateHouse Media online content strategy, The Web Cube, complete with information on how we will partner with each individual GateHouse newspaper to get 100 percent participation by the end of 2009.
It is worth acknowledging that the Online Handbook will never be complete. This first shot is meant to address many of the pressing issues we know exist, but certainly does not address everything possible. In addition, the Internet is a young, 14-year-old medium. What we know today about what works or doesn’t work online can change tomorrow. For these reasons, watch www.GHnewsroom.com as we perpetually update this guide.
Conference calls with every editor and publisher will be conducted over the next two weeks to discuss this guide and how the strategy can be implemented in local newsrooms.
