Four interactive and fun GateHouse Media Father's Day packages
Father's Day was Sunday and GateHouse Media newspapers both large and small found a host of ways to involve their readers in their coverage.
Before we touch on what those newspapers did, let's talk about how you can connect with those still thinking about Father's Day.
Consider putting a callout on your web site Monday morning and your front page on Tuesday (and run it for several days) and ask readers to submit their Father's Day photos.
Tell readers to submit anything from their Father's Day: Cookouts, pictures of those cute gifts their kids gave them, just about anything that has to do with the special day.
Now, here's what some of our newspapers did for Father's Day:
FATHER-SON CONTEST: The Lake News Online in Missouri, asked readers to submit photos for a father-son-lookalike contest. And they got dozens. Check out the package here.
DAD AND ME PHOTOS: The State Journal Register asked readers to send in photos of their dads with their kids. Check out the gallery. The SJ-R also had a nice story highlighting readers' stories on their dads. Check it out here.
DEAR OLD DAD: The Journal Star had a nice piece in their Sunday newspaper where they asked a variety of dads what their day meant to them. Click here to check out that package.
KIDS ON THEIR DADS: In this fun video, Messenger Post Newspapers (N.Y.) asked kids what's so special about their dads.
Did you do something unique for your Father's Day coverage? If so, send it to me.
