Chris Biondi to lead Web Cube effort across GateHouse

GateHouse News Service-New England Regional Editor and former MetroWest Daily News Managing Editor Chris Biondi has been named Coordinator of Online Content for the GateHouse Media News & Interactive Division.

Biondi, who has played key roles in the successful launch of GateHouse News Service in New England, as well as in several of the News & Interactive Division training programs, will spearhead the implementation aspect of the company's online content strategy.

Biondi will be hands on with the GateHouse field, helping dozens of newspapers across the country implement and manage updates throughout the day, offer consistent multimedia and reader involvement projects, and develop avenues to help local newspapers increase traffic through new initiatives. He will also be involved in implementing other online and print training programs.

“We are very fortunate to have Chris joining the division," said Brad Dennison, Vice President of GateHouse Media’s News & Interactive Division. “He brings great experience to this role on two fronts. He has been deeply and successfully involved in several corporate news and online initiatives in the past few years. And as a journalist, he brings great credentials and a sense of practicality that resonates with newsrooms. He brings instant credibility to the job.”

In addition to his new national role, Biondi will remain involved in editorial operations in New England. He will continue to be the key contact for GateHouse News Service in New England, and will help advise the central news service team with story selection for the region's content. A budget of New England stories will be sent every day from GateHouse News Service. Sarah Corbitt will work with Chris on the coordination of the news service content. Corbitt will continue to coordinate, in conjunction with Biondi, implementation of the company’s online content strategy in New England. He will also continue to work with newspapers in New England on content development, including assistance on planning and organization for redesigns, special sections and training.

“Having observed everything Chris has done to further our news and online goals in New England,” said Rick Daniels, GateHouse Media New England President and CEO, “I could not be more satisfied to see Chris elevated to a role where he can bring his knowledge and talents to all of GateHouse. And to have him remain involved here is just a win-win for us.”
